Literacy NJ is proud to be an organization that welcomes people of all races, ethnicities, religions, genders, and sexual orientations, both immigrants and U.S. born.

We are appalled by the acts of hatred that have been committed around the country in the days since the 2016 election. We strongly reject the idea that this country belongs only to some of us or that any of our community members deserve less than equal rights or an equal opportunity to succeed. We are grateful to the thousands of volunteer tutors who agree: each year volunteers across NJ donate over 150,000 hours to help their community members improve their language and literacy skills so they can work, support their families, and participate as active members of their communities. We are committed to the idea that we can all learn from each other and that our cultural differences make our lives more fulfilling and our communities stronger.
